I have always been against switching off UAC under Windows Vista because it has so much to offer security-wise. To make things short, UAC had a massive attack by reporters who consider their selves IT gurus and created an awful image for it to the point that made people saying switch on your UAC look like idiots. So poor Microsoft had to do something to make UAC a bit less distracting. Despite the fact that Windows 7 ships with UAC set to not switch to secure desktop, I have actually switched it on.
